Google suspended its Map Maker tool earlier this month because some of its content was vandalised. No one knows who’s the responsible for creating the search and Google have not release an official statement about this problem.
Several pranks include an image of the Android mascot urinating on an Apple logo, or a search for a racist word and “house” on Google takes searchers to White House, Washington DC, US.
Google decided to suspend this service temporary: “We have been experiencing escalated attacks to spam Google Maps over the past few months… As a consequence, we suspended auto-approval and user moderation across the globe,”said Map Maker team member Pavirthra Kanakarajan on a press release.
On the same statement we can read: “The most recent incident was particularly troubling and unfortunate – a strong user in our community chose to go and create a large scale prank on the map.”
